Nearly two years after being released, the unique way that the Tesla Cybertruck changes gears is still shocking people

The Tesla Cybertruck is one of the most advanced cars on the market.

Built with armored glass, a massive motor, a touch of intergalactic mastery, and Tesla’s magic software, the Cybertruck continues to be a new standard of pickup design.

Yet one seemingly ordinary piece of tech has left people stunned.

Tesla Cybertruck has a wild way of changing gears

Despite the Tesla Cybertruck no longer being a gimmick and having been solidified as a stellar pickup over the likes of an F-150, it remains an EV that stuns many car fans.

Now that it’s on the market and people have spent years driving them, sharing costs and secrets, one feature has flown under the radar.

The gear change.

Of course, the Cybertruck is an automatic, so there’s no shift stick, but the car does need to change from Park to Drive, like every other vehicle.

The way it does that is different though.

Most cars have the gear controls in the same position that stick shifts were put in – centrally located in the front, down towards the floor.

Automatics changed this slightly, with some having a button dial and others being closer to the dash.

But the Cybertruck’s gears are on the roof.

Located between the two front seats, Cybertruck users will need to use the touchpad at head level to move.

TikTok user ‘pushingpistons‘ showcased the gears in action, and people were shocked.

“Nahhhhh bro is changing gear from the top,” one person commented.

Others are less impressed, claiming it’s counter-intuitive.

“Bro that gear selector is the worst I’ve ever seen. Imagine needing to get out of a tight spot and reaching up every time,” a second person said.

The Cybertruck is still impressing, even with its new ‘affordable’ model.
