Nebraska YouTuber sets out to shatter wild world record in a Chevy Spark

This Nebraska YouTuber tried beating a quarter-mile record with a modified Chevy Spark.

The Chevy Spark in question features a totally different engine under the hood, a V8.

This means it looks like a Chevy Spark but goes like a Chevy Corvette.

And it also means beating the record was quite easy.

In one of his latest videos, Nebraska YouTuber Cleetus McFarland decided to beat the current Chevy Spark quarter-mile record, because such a record exists. You learn something new every day.

The Chevy Spark is a no-nonsense family hatchback and, as standard, it is quite slow, and the previous record confirmed it.

Its record stood at 18.1 seconds, which is an eternity for a quarter-mile run.

However, Cleetus’s Chevy Spark uses a 540-cubic-inch big-block Chevy V8, which, depending on how you tune it, is capable of producing well over 600 horsepower.

Unsurprisingly, the record was shattered.

He did three runs.

On the first and second run, he managed to get to the end of the quarter-mile strip in just under 10 seconds.

Then, on the third run, he managed to do it in 9.9 seconds at 138MPH.

That’s not only faster than any other Spark, it is faster than a long list of vehicles out there.

A while back, somebody put a McLaren Senna up against a McLaren 765 LT, and they both failed to stay under 10 seconds.

In fact, in order to find cars that are faster than this Spark we need to mention some heavyweight names with a lot of torque.

For example, the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut got to the quarter-mile marker in just 8.88 seconds.

And yet somebody else managed to do even better than that.

Earlier this year, a (very, very) heavily modified NIssan GT-R R35 managed a quarter-mile time of just 6.51 seconds at 230MPH.

When it comes to EVs, the record keeps being beaten almost on a weekly basis.

About a year ago, Lucid set a quarter-mile record, which was then beaten by Ford, Tesla and Rimac.
