Some new images of Mazda’s EZ-60 have revealed that it’s a serious Tesla rival in the making.
The electric crossover SUV was unveiled this week at the 21st Shanghai Auto Show.
The EV – which is a collaboration between Mazda and Changan – is set to go on sale this year in 2025.
And by the looks of it, Mazda is hot on the heels of Tesla.

Previously, the company has impressed with its daily drivers, including this woman who switched from a Mercedes to a Mazda and loved it, and this 80-year-old woman who drove a 25-year-old manual RX-7.
But just like many carmakers, Mazda is now turning its focus toward EVs.
And the new EZ-60 could be one for the history books.
The Mazda EZ-60 built to rival Tesla

The theme for the new Mazda is ‘future x soul x modern’, and we’d say the carmaker hit the nail on the head with its design.
The carmaker added air passageways at the tip of the hood and other points for three reasons.
Not only do they give the car a futuristic appearance, but they contribute to the aerodynamics and improve power consumption efficiency at high speeds.
The EV is also a powerhouse with impressive range.
Mazda says the BEV model will have a range of 600km and the PHEV model will have more than 1,000km.
This Mazda has also been packed with smart technology.
The Mazda’s cabin is similar to Tesla’s layout

Aside from boasting a similar exterior shape to Tesla’s Model Y, the Mazda’s interior front cabin is similar to what you’ll find in a Tesla.
The car features a smart cabin and it really is impressive.
Not only does the centre front console boast a 26.45 inch 5K integrated flat-panel display, but there’s even intelligent parking controlled by your voice – and it can even be operated from the outside the vehicle.
For music fans, the SUV also has a 3D sound system with 23 speakers, and thanks to speakers located in the headrest, the driver and the front passenger can also listen to different music.
