A $100 million superyacht called New Secret has stunned Chicago locals after appearing dramatically on the city’s waterfront.
The 243-foot vessel pulled into Burnham Harbour before floating down the length of the Chicago River.
Reddit went instantly crazy as crowds tried to figure out why one of the world’s most expensive private yachts was suddenly in the area.
The internet’s best detectives took it upon themselves to work out the reason for the surprise Chicago appearance.
New Secret superyacht makes a rare Chicago appearance
Chicago is no stranger to big superyachts, but New Secret is in a different category entirely.
The 243-foot vessel is built to comfortably house up to 12 guests and 19 crew, complete with pools, spa facilities, and enough lounging space to rival a boutique hotel.
The yacht recently changed hands and names, and online sleuths quickly linked it to the Lopes family of São Paulo, Brazil.

Its arrival wasn’t subtle, and a Chicago redditor posted a shot of the yacht, calling it ‘absolutely massive,’ and the post exploded with curious viewers wondering why it was there.
Some users thought it docked for the Sueños Music Fest in Grant Park, while others debated whether a yacht of this size could even navigate the lochs leading into the river.
Locals eventually confirmed that yes, it can, and yes, it did, which is how it managed to get there.
The vessel dwarfed almost everything around it, and iconic architecture, crowded riverside walkways, and the usual tourist boats suddenly looked tiny next to a hundred-million-dollar superyacht cruising between the bridges.

Billionaire’s playground on the Chicago River
While New Secret isn’t the largest superyacht on the whole planet, it easily ranks among the most expensive ever spotted in the area.
Running costs alone are estimated at roughly $10 million per year, and its engines burn through vast amounts of fuel to keep the luxury experience running.

But beyond the comments, one thing was clear: the yacht turned Chicago’s riverfront into a billionaire-level spectacle, rivalling Monaco.
The river was the scene of an impromptu yacht showcase, and it did not disappoint.
