Samsung and iPhone could have some serious competition with the new Honor Magic8 Pro, thanks to its incredible camera setup.
After 14 years, Samsung was recently toppled by Apple as the world’s biggest smartphone maker.
But aside from iPhone and Samsung devices, there are plenty of other options out there, like the Xiaomi REDMI Note or this retro-inspired one that is built for messaging.
And if your phone’s camera is an important feature for you, then you may be tempted by the Honor Magic8 Pro, which comes with seriously impressive tech.

The Honor Magic8 Pro has a seriously neat camera setup
Cameras on phones have come a long way since the 1 megapixel Nokia 7610 back in 2004.
These days, most of us are carrying around professional-level cameras, with phone makers packing in additional features such as LiDAR sensors and optical zoom.

Chinese phone maker Honor has just upped the game again with the introduction of the new 200MP Ultra Night Telephoto system on its Magic8 Pro.
The camera system is designed to get the very best shot, even in dark or nighttime conditions.
It’s made up of one main 200MP night telephoto camera, a 50MP ultra night main camera, a 50MP ultra wide camera, and a 3D depth-sensing camera, as well as an extra 50MP front camera.
The cameras work alongside a new night mode, which features a customized exposure timer and utilizes AI to enhance your shot.
“The HONOR Magic8 Pro introduces the industry’s most advanced AI telephoto system to date, featuring a 200MP Ultra Night Telephoto Camera with a large 1/1.4-inch sensor, wide f/2.6 aperture, OIS, and 3.7x optical zoom,” the company explained.
“This setup drastically improves light intake, delivering clearer details even at long distances.”
It also has 5.5-stop CIPA image stabilization, so your photos come out looking sharp, even if you don’t have a steady hand.
The Magic8 Pro comes pre-loaded with several new motion modes, including slow motion and motion trail.

The phone is packed with useful AI features
The next-generation camera isn’t the only thing that helps the Honor Magic8 Pro stand out against the likes of the iPhone.
The phone is kitted out with a ‘balanced mix of creativity, reasoning, and contextual task handling AI experiences’, according to its creator.
This includes a human-centric AI companion, which is designed to be chatty and ‘genuinely helpful’, and a dedicated AI button that gives you access to screen suggestions.

Among the clever AI tech built into the Magic8 Pro is deepfake and voice cloning detection that can keep you safe from scammers and fraudsters in real-time.
You can also use it to summarize long documents and blur sensitive personal information in seconds.
