This man from New York was shocked by a second ignition switch in a Chevy Silverado, but the reality of the situation didn’t match up.
Every gearhead loves a motoring hack, especially when it makes people’s lives easier, so when this man supposedly found a second ignition switch, he was shocked.
But, after sharing the hack with other car lovers, certain aspects didn’t quite add up.
The hack was discussed online by other Chevy lovers, and it appeared that everything wasn’t as it seemed.

When it comes to exploring their vehicles, gearheads are often intrigued as to what hidden switches, levers, and buttons do.
And it appeared that one man’s curiosity got the better of him when he found a supposed second ignition switch.
TikTok user @bencs1992 shared a video of the switch that was located near the license plate at the back of the car, before the engine started up and roared.
The creator said in the video: “I was today years old when I learned about this useless but also cool hack for Chevy Silverados.”
He then continued in the caption of the video: “Am I the only one who didn’t know there was a second ignition switch on these trucks?”

But when auto-enthusiasts found the video, they thought that things seemed a bit too good to be true.
After all, how many trucks actually have a second ignition switch?
Online users set the record straight about the Chevy Silverado hack
It appears that, although the Chevy Silverado hack seemed convenient, the whole debacle was too good to be true.
As the second switch at the back of the truck is actually all to do with the spare tire, which some switched-on social media users identified straight away.
“That unlocks the plug that blocks someone from stealing your spare tire,” said one user.
“If you start it that way, it actually puts it in race mode,” joked another auto-enthusiast.
“False I say,” said another social media user.
So, it seems that the light-hearted joke didn’t manage to get past Chevy enthusiasts online, and it’s no wonder why, as some Chevy fans are serious about their cars.
For example, one Canadian put the Tesla Cybertruck against a Chevy Silverado in the ultimate towing competition to test the vehicle to the max.
Plus, we can’t forget the ultimate Chevy superfan from Connecticut who’s had his Chevy Chevelle Malibu SS for so long that he’s managed to get a speeding ticket in every state.
