This North Carolina man rented a 2023 Polestar 2 EV car to compare it to his 2021 Tesla Model 3.

It was only last summer that he bought his used Model 3, a 2021 Long Range AWD for $20,000.

But after owning the car for a little while he wanted to find out if there were more attractive options out there.

One of those options was the Polestar 2.

Polestar 2 vs Tesla Model 3

Andrew Lambrecht rented a 2023 Polestar 2 EV, a four-door sporty liftback to see how it compared to his used Tesla Model 3.

The EV car featured a clean and muscular design with a range of 336 miles (540km).

It is made by a Swedish automotive upstart founded by Volvo and China-based Geely Holding Group in 2017.

Other than the liftback, the automaker also manufactures the Polestar 3 SUV and the Polestar 4 crossover.

When Lambrecht picked up the Polestar 2, he instantly noticed its Scandinavian vibe.

It had a sporty, mature, and premium feel with its muscle car-esque proportions.

Pros and cons

The EV car was certainly well-built with the blinker stocks, drive selector, and steering wheel all giving a high-end feel.

However, the car was almost 600 pounds heavier than the Model 3, which can be felt when taking corners.

But, unlike the Model 3, the Polestar 2 can be launched by pressing the brake and the accelerator, then letting the brake go.

It is quite a fast vehicle with 402 horsepower that can go from zero to 60 in about 4.5 seconds.

With six inches of ground clearance, it can also do light off-roading.

However, according to Lambrecht, his 2021 Tesla Model 3 had a better range than the Polestar 2.

It needed more energy to travel the same distance.

Plus, it had no adaptive cruise control, lane centering assist, or even a blind spot monitor.

However, the automaker is planning to launch more cars like the Polestar 6 Roadster, which might give the Tesla Roadster a run for its money.
