The brand-new Ionna charger is becoming a real hit with EV fans as one customer in Ohio stumbled across a stellar deal, with a price of just $0.25/kWh to use.
On-the-go charging is the crux of electric vehicle usage.
The inflated prices at the stations sometimes make it barely cheaper to run an EV than a petrol car.
But when you find deals like this Ionna charger at $0.25/kWh, it’s enough to cheer about.

Ionna charger costs a quarter per kWh
Manufacturers and energy suppliers have all been trying to knuckle down and fix the overwhelming problem that is charging times and prices.
Predominantly, companies have been cutting down on charging times, with more powerful systems being installed at public stations.
But the new Ionna charger in the US is looking at slicing through the floor of the minimum prices, cutting some areas’ cheapest rates in half.
This Ohio driver found as much, as they randomly stumbled across this station in Reynoldsburg, which, at $0.25/kWh, was twice as cost-efficient as the $0.56/kWh chargers in the same area

Taking to Reddit, this EV driver advocated the cheap station, claiming they are ‘awesome’.
“The Ionna chargers look pretty awesome. They also have a lounge for EV drivers only with restrooms and snacks. 400kw chargers. Charged almost 40% for 11 minutes and only paid $8.59,” they said.
“They also had two chargers per stall, and both were usable at the same time! As well as CCS1 and NACS support. Overall, a great precedent for chargers.”
According to commentators, this was a Labour Day special lasting until September 2, where the prices would go back to the usual, but still very cheap, $0.36.
On-the-go EV charging continues to improve
Ionna is a direct rival to the likes of Tesla, having been made by a collaboration of manufacturers like BMW, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes, and Toyota.
And it’s a welcome addition to the flurry of new chargers, which aim to make the cars more affordable.
On the speedy side of things, Costco could be set to have a similar reputation with EV charging as it does with oil prices, installing new fast chargers, courtesy of Electric Era.

Charging on the go still beats petrol prices, but at the rates that the Ionna charger is offering, its a sure thing that more drivers will find the switch much easier and affordable.
