The title of worst rated bus in America didn’t stop an Ohio man from climbing aboard the Greyhound, though it probably should have.

YouTuber set Dalton Thompson out to see whether the horror stories were exaggerated or painfully accurate.

His plan was simple: take a roughly 12-hour Greyhound trip from New York City back to Ohio.

What followed was a travel saga that unraveled almost immediately.

The bus itself wasn’t that bad

The nightmare began at New York City’s Port Authority Bus Terminal, where Dalton waited for three hours before learning his bus was delayed.

Greyhound offered an alternate route, but there was a catch: the new departure point was across the city near the George Washington Bridge.

Rather than walking several hours in the cold, Dalton paid $35 for an Uber just to keep the trip alive.

Before even boarding a bus, the experience was already living up to its reputation.

At the very least, the bus itself didn’t look that bad.

Once on board, things briefly stabilized.

The seats weren’t as uncomfortable as expected, and the driver seemed professional, even friendly.

But small annoyances quickly piled up: Dalton’s seat had no power outlet, the cabin rattled constantly, and the number of transfers began to weigh on him.

Maybe if he took a train instead, he would be a lot more comfortable.

After a stop in Newark, the next bus toward Pittsburgh was louder, shakier, and filled with broken overhead panels that looked ready to fall at any moment.

Against all odds, Dalton managed to get some sleep, although a snoring passenger quickly ruined the peace.

The worst rated bus in America doesn’t even arrive

He arrived in Pittsburgh around 6:00 am, tired but optimistic that the worst was over.

That optimism vanished when Greyhound emailed to say his final bus to Akron was delayed by nine hours.

Fellow passengers warned him this was common, claiming some routes were routinely canceled due to staffing and maintenance issues.

Customer service offered no alternatives.

With no bus coming and no clear solution, Dalton found himself stranded.

Eventually, he retreated to a Starbucks across the street, waiting in freezing temperatures for hours until his girlfriend drove out to rescue him.

In Dalton’s opinion, the final verdict was unavoidable: Greyhound’s reputation doesn’t come from nowhere.
