A collector picked up a rare one-of-a-kind Porsche 911 S/T sports car, only to find there was another one with the same serial number.
This is the Porsche 911 S/T, one of the most exclusive recent 911 models ever made, with just 1,963 units produced.
Each of them has a unique serial number; however, the internet was sent into a frenzy after two of the S/Ts were spotted with the same number.
That naturally confused many avid Porsche fans, with the company itself being forced to correct the problem after the owners notified them about it.

The Porsche 911 S/Ts both have different colors but the same serial number
The two sports cars are labeled 1,724 of 1,963, and they were seen in different colors.
The first of the cars was in a Shore Blue livery, and it was shared on Instagram around a year ago.
Then there is the second car, a Sonderwunsch commission, finished in a stunning custom Rose Red.
Both are in different locations, with the Shore Blue 911 located in Guatemala and the other in a German Porsche dealership.
Looking at the two, we can see the badges both read 1,724 of 1,963, hence the confusion among fans.
Since the error came to light, Porsche has confirmed that the manufacturing of the same plaques was an accident.
However, the German manufacturer didn’t confirm which of the two had the plaque in error and which it would fix.
Thankfully, it would appear the error is confined only to the plaques.
The duplicate numbers would have been a shock to the 911 owners
The revelation of the same plaques will have come as a bit of a shock to those who own the cars.
Porsche developed the 911 S/T package in 2023 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the legendary sports car.
The 1,963 unit number was a nod to the debut year of the car, and this special edition has become very collectible.

Under the hood, it has the same engine as the 911 GT3 RS and a six-speed manual transmission.
That engine is a 4.0-liter flat-six making 518hp and 346lb-ft of torque.
Priced at $290,000, it’s easy to see why owners of these ‘unique’ cars would be annoyed at a serial duplicate!
