These unusual-looking, chopped-up party buses in Nashville are street legal, but it wasn’t an easy path to get them on the road.
If you’ve ever been in Nashville after dark, you may be familiar with the site of its party buses.
Known as ‘transportainment’ vehicles, the buses roam around the city while its occupants drink, dance, and make merry.
The whole concept may seem like a recipe for disaster, but the buses are hugely popular and totally street legal.

Party buses in Nashville are next level
We’ve seen all manner of weird and wonderful custom builds, like this ‘unstoppable’ semi truck that’s built to plow through whatever gets in its way, or this modified Fiat Panda that is the slimmest car in the world.
Over in Nashville, customized and modified party buses are a huge hit with visitors.

Many of them began life as school buses before getting a much less wholesome re-purpose.
Others are built from retired military tracks and even old agricultural vehicles.
When they were introduced, rules and regulations were patchy.
Basically, as long as the driver didn’t drink, it was pretty much fair game.
However, following a handful of incidents, the city brought in proper legislation.
Operators of party buses in Nashville must obtain an entertainment transportation certificate, which requires them to stick to numerous rules, including no alcohol above eight percent onboard, and reasonable noise levels.
Although the party buses are now legally regulated, many locals would be happy to see them gone.
In response, officials have introduced ‘quiet zones’, which include schools, places of worship, and hospitals where the buses are not allowed to operate.

The buses also can’t pick up or drop off within these zones.
So, while the party buses in Nashville are street legal, legislation has been introduced to try and make things a little stricter.

If a party bus isn’t your thing, then what about a party submarine?
Launched by Dutch-based U Boat Worx, the Under Water Entertainment Platform (UWEP) is a new type of venue where you and 120 of your pals can have a whale of a time under the sea.
The sub can be customized depending on the sort of night you’re planning and can be used for anything from weddings to a casino night.
It also comes with a Michelin-starred chef working away in the UWEP’s restaurant and a bar where you can grab a cocktail.
