A pilot has an entire Boeing 737 cockpit setup in his house, creating a truly immersive flight simulator.

A video on Instagram showcased the pilot’s rig, which looked like an authentic recreation of the real thing, complete with all the navigation displays, lights, and more.

Flight simulators can very accurately imitate real aircraft, with developers spending many hours recreating their functions.

But rather than use a mouse and a keyboard, this pilot clearly wanted to bring his real jet airliner back home with him.

How accurate is the Boeing 737 cockpit simulator?

We only get a brief look at the cockpit of the simulator, but it’s enough to give us a good impression.

We see the pilot walk in from the outside, with the simulator hidden behind a nondescript door.

Stepping into the room, you would think you’d accidentally walked onto a real airliner.

Both the pilots’ and co-pilots’ seats are replicated in exact detail.

The center console is also fully replicated.

All of the main instrument panels are recreated, too, as are the switches above the pilots.

With the rig itself turned off, it gives the illusion that the aircraft is flying at night.

If any of you like flight simulators, we think this will make you all very jealous!

How much would a rig like this cost?

We don’t know exactly how much this cost to build, but it won’t have been cheap!

Most of us if we enjoy flight simulators, likely have a yoke or joystick at home.

A full rig like this likely costs tens of thousands, maybe even hundreds of thousands of dollars.

It is likely that a lot of the parts for this rig have come off a real Boeing 737.

Scrapped aircraft can sometimes be salvaged for parts, whether at an auction or directly from a scrapyard.

It would certainly be cheaper than trying to make the parts yourself!

The Boeing 737 has been built in huge numbers, so finding one lying around isn’t too difficult.

However it was built, we wish we could have a go in this awesome simulator rig.
