Pop princess Sabrina Carpenter has revived cars from the Malaise era and made them look cool again.
The cars are from a specific era in American car history that occurred some 50 years ago.
And even though the Malaise era wasn’t all positive, the comeback of its cars may well be underway.
It’s all thanks to the singer’s music videos.

Celebrities are often not-so-secret gearheads
Many celebrities have car collections that they’ve secured thanks to their wealth.
From specially customized SUVs to muscle cars and even simple daily drivers, the world’s rich and famous are known for choosing the best, fastest, and coolest vehicles around.
Take Lil Uzi Vert, for example, his $700K ‘Cullinan Vert Edition turned a Rolls-Royce SUV into a one-of-a-kind convertible.
Plus, Kim Kardashian even turned her flashy Lamborghini into a fuzzy slipper – talk about an out-of-the-box idea.
But one pop princess has taken it a step further and has decided to bring back cars from a specific point in time – the Malaise era.
Malaise era cars refer to the period between the start of the 1970s to the mid 80s, or more precisely, ’73-’83.
Think muscle cars from classic brands like Ford and Dodge, with distinct hoods.
One of the biggest artists around is bringing back Malaise era cars
Sabrina Carpenter is known for her catchy songs all about heartbreak, love, and everything in between, but her videos have also made waves in the car world.
Her newest release, Manchild, specifically, pays homage to some cult classic Malaise era cars.
She finds herself surrounded by a desert and a Datsun Malaise car, which boasts quite an impressive exterior.
An SUV from the era is a nod to the car history of the US, and the ending of the video has a rather poignant car sitting under a sunset.

Sabrina also comes into receipt of some rather impressive cars throughout the eventful video, riding in the cabin and even on the roof, including a 1974 Ford Gran Torino with a red outer shell.

Another video that pays homage to classic Malaise cars is Please, Please, Please.
In it, the singer is sitting in the driver’s seat of a sleek Dodge Magnum XE, picking up her love interest, which represents the epitome of the Malaise era.

Some 50 years later, Malaise era cars may just be making a comeback, thanks to Sabrina and her 70s and 80s-inspired music videos, perhaps even inspiring a new era of gearheads.
You can take a look at Manchild below, and the videos for her other hits, Please, Please, Please and Espresso, deserve a watch too, if Malaise cars tickle your fancy.
