Man spots car in Miami and has absolutely no idea what it is with some in disbelief it's even a real car

This guy was in Miami when he spotted a hypercar that looked like it came out of a Gran Turismo or Forza Horizon video game.

But it’s real.

It’s not a fake car, and it’s not a kit car.

It’s just very, very, very – we could add a few more ‘verys’ – rare.

This hypercar in Miami is real, and it is actually electric

The ‘r/Spotted’ subreddit is a treasure trove.

No matter how rare, unusual, exotic or expensive a car can be – someone will have always spotted it.

In this case, a guy in Miami saw something that looks barely real.

It looks like the sort of thing you get to buy and drive in after winning hundreds of races in Gran Turismo or Forza Horizon.

Or maybe something with a weird name you can get in GTA.

Somebody on Reddit identified it precisely because they had used it Forza Horizon.

“TIL that thing is real. I got one in Forza but never thought it was a real car,” the Redditor wrote.

That is partially accurate, though.

The Batmobile-like hypercar, which is electric by the way, does have a weird name, and it is inspired (in part) by video games.

Only one has been created so far

Built in Los Angeles, the vehicle you see here is a hypercar built as a tribute to the most extreme and futuristic cars from Le Mans, which often end up being used as inspiration for game cars.

It’s called the RAESR Tachyon Speed

Speed is speed, but the other two names require an explanation.

RAESR is an acronym, and it stands for Rice Advanced Engineering Systems and Research. The word ‘Rice’ is actually just the founder’s last name, Eric Rice.

The name Tachyon is apparently a tribute to a particle that can, in theory, travel faster than light.

In physics, that’s called a hypothetical particle because physicists argue that faster-than-light travel simply cannot exist.

Well, as far as car names go, this is actually pretty cool.

The Tachyon uses electric motors that can generate up to 1,250 horsepower and 3,650 lb-ft of torque.

The top speed is 390 km/h – 240 mph.

Which makes this faster than both the Ferrari LaFerrari and the Porsche 918 Spyder.

The range is limited to 150 miles, but, with all that power, it’s not difficult to understand why.

Pricing? The estimated price tag when they opened the order books was indeed around $750,000.

But, for now, there’s only one.
