Rally driver gets Tesla S to 236k miles with no maintenance

A rally driver has revealed that he got his Tesla Model S to 236,000 miles without needing any maintenance work done.

That’s pretty impressive stuff.

Piero Longhi shared the astonishing stats on his personal Facebook page.

A long mileage Tesla record

While racing his Tesla Model S, Longhi successfully reached 236,000 years over six years.

While mileage Teslas do exist, his achievement is still impressive as he managed it with practically no maintenance at all.

This likely would not have been possible using a combustion-powered car, as they require regular service checks, maintenance, and fluid changes.

Longhi seemed pleased with himself, writing in the photo’s caption: “Honestly not sure what the future will be.. And I don’t want to get into any electric car debates… anyway… reached now 380.000 km ( In 6 years )… Don’t cut it off… No maintenance … I didn’t say… recently changed the front brake pads ( Not finished yet)… Maybe I got lucky but me… in that case as a selfish person…. I am really happy with my Tesla.”

This information bodes well for both Tesla and its customers.

However, it has nothing on this C5 Corvette that has the highest mileage sports car in the world – to put that into perspective, it’s traveled the equivalent of 31 times around Earth.

Given that the Model S is six years old and still so reliable means good things for more recent additions such as the Model S Plaid and the Cybertruck.

The Cyberbeast, a stronger version of the Cybertruck, is also building a reputation for itself as a sturdy towing vehicle.

How long could old Teslas go without maintenance?

If you throw your mind back, you may be able to recall Hansjörg Gemmingen, the German-based owner who broke a Tesla record in November 2023.

He broke the 1.18 million mile mark in his 2013 Model S P85.

However, his car, as one of Tesla’s earlier vehicles released in 2012, was very much a product of its time.

As such, it required some of its most critical components to be replaced during the record-smashing journey.

The vehicle’s batteries needed to be replaced three times, and the rear motor had thirteen changes on its record.

Since the days of the Model S P85, their vehicles’ durability has improved considerably.

They’re breaking records all the time – only recently a Cyberbeast set a jaw-dropping quarter-mile record.
