Ralph Lauren once transformed his personal car collection into a runway spectacle unlike anything the fashion world had ever seen.
The event featured more than 70 rare vehicles, from Ferraris to Bugattis, lined up beside models wearing his Fall designs.
At the time, the car collection was valued at $300 million.
Today, it is closer to $600 million, and yes, they are all a part of his own personal collection.

Inside Ralph Lauren’s garage
The show took place at Lauren’s Bedford estate outside New York.
Instead of a standard venue, the setting was his own garage, arranged so the car collection became part of the presentation.
Among the highlights was a 1938 Bugatti 57SC Atlantic, regarded as one of the most valuable cars in the world with an estimated worth of $40 million.

The display also included a 1937 Bugatti Type 57SC Gangloff, a Porsche 911 GT3 RS, and a Lamborghini Reventón Roadster.
The Ferrari lineup was equally significant.
Ralph Lauren owns a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO, and two Ferrari Testa Rossas.
He also owns three McLaren F1s, one of them being the ultra-rare F1 LM.

Other highlights in the garage include a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing and a 1929 Bentley 4½ Litre “Blower.”
Together, these additions showed why the garage fashion show became one of the most memorable crossovers between clothing and cars.
The value of Ralph Lauren’s car collection has doubled
Ralph Lauren’s car collection is widely regarded in automotive circles and has won honors at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
His 1938 Bugatti 57SC Atlantic was awarded Best of Show in 1990, while his 1930 Mercedes-Benz SSK “Count Trossi” won the same prize in 1993.
These achievements established the collection as one of the most respected private garages in the world.

As values for rare classics have surged, the estimated worth of the car collection has doubled.
The presence of icons like the Bugatti Atlantic and Ferrari 250 GTO makes it one of the most valuable privately owned collections.
By staging a fashion show in that environment, Ralph Lauren connected two fields that both value craftsmanship and design, creating an event still discussed years later.
