RAM urged people to 'never stop being American' as it brings back the HEMI by popular demand

RAM told Americans to ‘never stop being American’ as it brings back the HEMI V8 for the RAM 1500, essentially by popular demand.

The HEMI V8 was briefly retired and replaced with a V6 earlier this year, but didn’t really go down well with the audience, ie their customers.

That’s the main reason why it’s back.

There’s a minor catch, though.

Earlier this year, RAM boss Tim Kuniskis admitted that retiring the HEMI V8 was ‘anti-American’.

To be clear, the HEMI V8 still remained available across the lineup for other RAM models, for example, in the RAM 2500 and 3500.

But it was replaced with a more powerful V6 in the 2026 RAM 1500, which is the best-selling RAM.

Now, just a few months later, RAM has decided to bring it back. And the American automaker is now telling everyone to ‘never stop being American’.

Different people in different market segments want different things. But when it comes to trucks and muscle cars, Americans have simple taste, and all they want is a V8.

It’s that simple, and there’s no two ways about it.

A lot of brands in the United States had to learn this the hard way when non-V8 models struggled to take off, and ultimately, that’s probably the main reason why RAM brought the V8 back.

The company came up with an interesting marketing campaign to make the announcement.

There are two things worth pointing out, though.

First, RAM is only bringing back the ‘regular’ 5.7-liter 395HP model, not the 6.2-liter version with 702HP.

As a result, this means the HEMI V8 is actually less powerful than the Pentastar V6, which is available with 420 and 550HP.

But this won’t matter much to V8 fans, and we get it, because a V8’s a V8.
