This incredibly rare Dodge Dakota convertible just sold in Missouri for $8,888.
An unusual find, the Dodge model was only produced for a short time.
The 1980s relic boasted modern custom upgrades and had been well taken of by its owner.
Despite its age, the car had an incredibly low number of miles on the clock too.

This Dodge Dakota barely took to the open road
Dodge vehicles are an iconic piece of American automotive history.
And now a very low mileage example has just sold in Missouri.
But, it wasn’t any ordinary Dodge. This one was a convertible with an interesting history.

“In an attempt to bolster lagging sales of its once-popular mid-sized pickup, Chrysler decided to up the fun-factor of the Dakota by contracting coachbuilder ASC to transform it into a full-fledged convertible sport truck,” the listing read.
Never a sales success, the Dakota Sport Convertible was cancelled after roughly 3,400 units were built.
But, as the listing states, it lived on as a ‘unique and desirable oddity with a cult following’.
Powering the truck was a 3.9-liter V6, which was able to produce 125hp and 195 lb-ft of torque.
The 1989 model racked up just 300 miles during the short time it stayed with its owner, meaning it barely even left the garage.
It was also given some modifications, including a Kenwood head unit, 16-inch Impul R5 three-piece wheels, and even a suspension lowering kit.
There were a few little quirks that were documented, including some rust, wear and tear, and a cracked dashboard, but otherwise, the seller had kept the vehicle in good condition.
As you’d expect, a rare Dodge like this was bound to sell.
Ultimately, the Cars & Bids auction ended on October 20, with the car selling for $8,888.
Not the truck’s first rodeo
This wasn’t the truck’s first rodeo on Cars & Bids.
In fact, just four years ago, it also hit the site, begging to be saved.

“The seller purchased this Dakota on Cars & Bids in August 2021 and has added approximately 300 miles since,” explained the listing.
Doug DeMuro even previously reviewed it.
All in all, after purchasing the vehicle in 2021 and listing it again this year, the seller managed to make a profit of more than $700.
It really is good news for Dodge fans all round as it seems rare Dodge models are making a comeback, like this rare 1959 Dodge Viscount and this Dodge Challenger wagon that were recently unearthed.
