One of the rarest cars ever made has been hunted down as a 1986 Lamborghini Truck has been found in Colombia and brought home to the USA.

The name Lamborghini has always – and will always – be associated with low-to-the-ground aerodynamic sports cars with engines that purr and tires that screech around racetrack corners with ease.

But, the Italian sports car designers also created a handful of typically mint trucks in the ’90s before ceasing production and leaving 800 orders on read.

Only 60 Lamborghini LM002 trucks made it over to American shores from the 301 built and have been almost like a Dodo bird since. That is until this week when one was tracked down.

Rare Lamborghini Truck returns to USA 32 years later

Popular content creators and car dealers We Are Curated have recently found a historic 1991 Lamborghini LM002 after hunting it down all the way to Botafogo, Colombia.

The  LM002 – dubbed as the world‘s first luxury SUV – was originally sold to a Miami dealership back in the ’90s but was sold to a buyer in Colombia and shipped out in ‘91.

Only two LM002s were reported to have ever been transported to Colombia, with rumors of one white and one black version spotted; the black version apparently being owned by none other than the infamous narcotics ring leader Pablo Escobar.

The white one, however, has been off the radar since it crossed the border 32 years ago.

We Are Curated spoke to a photographer who snapped the car at the dealership in Miami before its sale and found out where it was sold from.

There, they managed to find the record of the sale and tracked it to Colombia.

The original owner was in the agriculture industry but had sadly passed away.

The LM002 was then inherited by the rest of the family. After meeting the family, We Are Curated agreed a purchase of the vehicle and shipped it home.

Lamborghini LM002 returns to the USA as a stunning time capsule

Incredibly, the Lambo truck was in fantastic condition and had never been altered under the hood or within the interior.

The preservation stunned the content creators, with the original interior linings, wooden dashboard, and Alpine radio all in mint condition. It even had the original replacement wheel with the ‘American’ stamp.

Only a few touch-ups on the paint job had been done, and there was some mechanical work that needed doing on its arrival back in Miami.

The rare Lamborghini truck is now set to be bought again and moved into an elite car collection, although the buyer was not named.

With hope, they won’t follow the trend set by the Sultan of Brunei, who turned his LM002 into a wagon.
