Red Bull factory workers have been discussing the ‘culture’ within the team since Christian Horner’s exit.

The team was rocked by the sudden exit of Christian Horner back in July.

Since then, the premier F1 team has experienced something of a revival.

And Red Bull factory workers believe it is down to the ‘culture’ of the team.

Christian Horner’s departure rocks F1

Even if you’re not a Formula 1 fan, you are probably familiar with the struggles of Red Bull.

The first half of the 2025 F1 season has been one to forget for the Milton Keynes-based team.

It was rocked by poor form and results – as well as controversy that surrounded Christian Horner.

Horner previously served as the team principal and CEO of Oracle Red Bull Racing.

For 20 years, Christian Horner’s tenure oversaw multiple world titles and Drivers’ championships.

But the end of his tenure was marred by both internal and external controversy.

A potent combination of controversy and poor results on track spelled the end for Christian Horner.

The motorsport world was shocked when, on the morning of July 9, 2025, the announcement came.

Christian Horner’s time as Red Bull boss was officially over.

Laurent Mekies changes Red Bull ‘culture’

Since then, the Oracle Red Bull Racing team has recovered remarkably well.

Just a few months ago, many people thought the team was down and out.

Now, their car is fast again – and Max Verstappen is on the hunt for a record-equalling fifth consecutive Drivers’ championship.

And a big part of the revival has been due to the arrival of Laurent Mekies.

Frenchman Mekies was previously in charge of the Visa Cash App Racing Bulls team.

For those who don’t know, the Racing Bulls squad is the junior ‘satellite’ team to the factory Oracle Red Bull team.

So, how has Mekies helped with the revival of the team in such a short span of time?

Well, factory workers believe it is due to the ‘culture’ of the team.

This revelation came courtesy of journalist Rebecca Clancy.

Clancy spoke to the BBC’s Inside Track podcast – and she believes there is much more ‘fun’ within the team now.

“I think Red Bull has been really impressive, particularly since Mekies has come in,” Clancy said.

“For Verstappen, and for the team. They’ve gone, ‘Actually, yeah. Have a bit of fun.’ You hear all the stories coming out from the factory [that] the culture is changing a bit.

“The development, how they approach races in changing to their advantage. They do seem to be in quite a good place at the moment.”

Since arriving in July, Mekies has reportedly changed a variety of things within the team.

He has reportedly made several tweaks that have led to better processes during race weekends, as well as their decision-making.

And factory members believe that it has completely changed the ‘culture’ of the squad.

Red Bull could well do the impossible.
