This Secret Service agent, who reportedly spent 25 years protecting US presidents, showed drivers how to escape in an emergency.
The retired agent shared the valuable advice online and demonstrated the mode of safe driving for all to see.
While the rule of thumb may seem simple, many still need to make sure that they take it into account.
Plus, after revealing all online, other drivers simply couldn’t agree more.
This Secret Service agent told drivers how to escape in an emergency
When driving, you have to be extra cautious when sitting behind the wheel.
But, to help drivers even further, one Secret Service agent offered valuable advice when it came to escaping safely.
TikTok user and retired Secret Service agent scottbrysonbts shared useful tips, especially for when a vehicle is in close proximity to yours.
And, the agent really was the guy to advise everyone, as he had previously spent 25 years protecting US presidents.
“When you come up to a traffic light, a lot of people get way too close to the car in front of you,” he explained.

But, if something were to happen and you didn’t have enough space, you wouldn’t be able to maneuver out safely.
So the agent showed how we can drive to cater to an emergency situation behind the wheel.
He showed how he left enough space so that he could see the car in front’s rear and tires completely, which could help you escape in an emergency.
“A good rule of thumb is, if I can see that entire car where the tires actually touch the asphalt, then I’m in good shape,” he continued.

But, with any highway code, there are some swings and roundabouts, and you need to leave some, but not too much distance between your vehicles and others that are also on the road.
“You need to leave a little space so you can get out of there, it’s called getting off the X,” he continued.
Seems simple, right?
Online, drivers were thankful for the advice
After watching the Secret Service agent’s advice, many drivers were pleased with what he’d shared, and most were in agreement.
“I travel a great deal in the summer. This is a great tip and reminder how to be safe on the road! Thank you,” said one user.
“People following too close and stopping too close drives me crazy! I love your common sense,” said another.
“This is exactly why I get irritated when people are bumper to bumper., like if something happens, now we’re all stuck,” remarked another.
Interestingly, it turns out that he’s not the only Secret Service agent to dish out some valuable information either.
Another agent from the Secret Service gave Jay Leno all the details about what happened to the US President’s Cadillac, nicknamed ‘The Beast’, after eight years.
