Forget sitting behind the wheel for hours on long journeys; self-driving AI trucks from Bot Auto have just achieved a huge milestone.
The tech company revealed that its trucks do not need a person behind the wheel as its fleet completed a significant test.
The company’s trucks took to the open road at sunset to see how they would perform without a driver.
But the achievement is just one of many that the tech-driven vehicles look set to conquer.

It’s one small step for cars and one huge step forward for self-driving AI trucks
Trucks come in all different shapes and sizes, but forget standard vehicles that you’re used to seeing on the road.
Now it’s time for self-driving AI trucks, which have just taken a huge step into the future.
Bot Auto shared the exciting news and showed the driverless vehicles in action, a goal that was achieved just two years after the company actually began, as the first humanless hub-to-hub validation run took place.

“The truck operated seamlessly within its defined operational domain with no one in the cab or remote assistance, navigating real-world traffic conditions,” explained Bot Auto in a press release.
So, very soon, we could see completely autonomous trucks on the roads.
The test took place at sunset, but not before the trucks that are operating as Transportation as a Service (TaaS) were deemed safe enough and went through ‘rigorous closed-course autonomy testing’.

“Success is simple: autonomy must beat human cost-per-mile, consistently and safely.
“And at Bot Auto, humanless means no human — not in the driver’s seat, not in the back seat, and not behind a remote joystick,” Bot Auto CEO and Founder, Dr Xiaodi Hou said.
Plus, the self-driving AI trucks also had protection, including continuous health monitoring and diversified redundancy, as the benchmark was set for others to follow.
But the excitement doesn’t end there.
Next up, Bot Auto plans to run its first humanless commercial cargo run from Houston to San Antonio.
So, it’s all eyes on the company as it completes more exciting artificial intelligence-powered tests.
AI is enabling the car world to advance quickly
Artificial intelligence is slowly integrating into everyday tasks, like driving, with perks to make drivers’ lives a whole lot easier.
From Tesla to BMW, many brands are using it to make car cabins better than ever before, thanks to advanced systems to help the car on the road.
BMW, in fact, has integrated AI to help you park your BMW without you actually being in it.
Plus, Lamborghini also has AI tech that promises to correct your driving mistakes in real time.
