One skeptical driver tried out an EV after much uncertainty about its performance and liked it so much that he decided to make the switch permanently.
After being uncertain about EVs, Jan Kammerath’s mind completely changed after only a few hours behind the wheel.
He thought electric cars were expensive, took forever to charge and also had a limited range.
But that all changed when he rented a BMW i3 during a family holiday in Spain.

Switching to an EV car
Jan Kammerath had been wanting to buy a new car but had only driven gasoline-powered BMWs over the years and enjoyed them a lot.
Although his brother and parents had switched to Tesla, he was very uncertain about electric cars.
So he wanted to drive an EV for a couple of days to form his own opinion.
“After the first few hours, the BMW i3 got me so excited that I decided to switch to electric entirely,” he wrote for Medium.
He’s not the first proud combustion car owner to switch to electric either.
Even Danny Devito, who was a loyal Cadillac owner for years, made the switch to electric.
Never going back to gasoline ever
After returning from his family trip, Kammerath bought a BMW iX1 from the local BMW branch.
“I’ve been driving the iX1 for a couple of months now and will never go back to a gasoline-powered car ever again,” he said.
While many people switch to EVs for environmental reasons, or to save on fuel costs, like this man, Kammerath made the switch for a different reason.
In his case, it was the technical advantages of the electric car that made him switch.
Kammerath also praised the fast and precise acceleration of the electric engine.
According to him, the EV car easily outperforms many of its gasoline-powered counterparts.
