Skoda has a new Enyaq RS race concept that proves that bio-composite fiber can make you go faster and lighter.

The new concept is set to take the auto world by storm and is a pilot project by the company.

New features could make cars faster and lighter, thanks to a widened body.

Plus, the fiber looks the part too, and even has protective elements

Skoda is a brand known for its reliable cars.

Many gearheads all over the world have daily drivers from the car manufacturer, but it’s also dipped its toes in more advanced waters, too.

For example, Skoda unveiled a futuristic electric single-seater concept for Gran Turismo last year.

Plus, our very own Alex Hirschi, AKA Supercar Blondie, even showed off her inner Picasso when she got the chance to draw on the door panel of the Skoda 7S, which you can take a peek at above.

Now, the car company has unveiled a new design that proves a point about materials.

The Skoda Enyaq RS race concept is a preview of possible brand-new, future production models.

“The lower and wider concept car incorporates innovative, sustainable biocomposite parts that provide the same rigidity and weight advantages as carbon fibre,” stated Skoda.

In addition, the new materials contribute to ‘an overall weight reduction of more than 300kg compared to the new Škoda Enyaq Coupé RS on which it is based.’

A total of 16 components are made from sustainable matter, as it’s natural flax fiber that’s replacing carbon, too.

“These woven fibers not only reduce vibrations in the interior and contribute to weight reduction but also serve as a visually appealing design element.

“Moreover, flax cultivation has a significantly lower impact on the soil compared to other crops,” the website explains.

When it comes to power, the Enyaq RS race concept is impressive too.

There is a ‘rally-type hydraulic handbrake’, a new brake cooling system, and even carbon-ceramic brake discs, alongside a pedal system from a Fabrica RS Rally2.

“The two electric motors, delivering a combined output of 250KW, are identical to those in the production model.

“Like the Škoda Enyaq Coupé RS, the top speed is 180KMH, but the lighter new Enyaq RS Race now accelerates from 0 to 100KMH in under five seconds,” Skoda explained.

The widened body of the car has a reduced height of 70mm, as well as protective measures to ensure the safety of the chassis parts and the all-important battery.

Plus, to actually bring the widened body to life, ‘individual bodywork parts were taken from the production line, redesigned from scratch, and reassembled’.

Every detail has been thought of here, including the strong steel roll cage on the Enyaq RS race concept

So the new Skoda concept may be proof that carbon fiber can make you go faster and weigh less.

Plus, the sound system has a digital sound amplifier and loudspeaker units, with the sound being ‘activated at speeds above 30KMH, ensuring an exciting acoustic experience throughout the drive.’

Fingers crossed the RS makes it to production!
