The Sultan of Brunei’s $5 billion car collection is the stuff of legend, with more than 7,000 vehicles stowed away.

There’s a lot of mystery surrounding it, with photos occasionally making their way out into the public view.

Understandably, these sneak peeks make a lot of people curious.

So just which of these cars are the most expensive of the lot?

Inside the vast car collection of the Sultan of Brunei

Much of the Sultan’s collection is incredibly secretive, it’s only through a few leaked images that we’ve been able to peek behind the curtain, so to speak.

As you might expect, much of the collection is very pricey – he owns enough Ferraris to dish out one to every resident of the Vatican City and still have 200 left over.

But there are some cars within his collection which are surprisingly affordable.

However, there are plenty more cars down at the opposite end of the spectrum.

Given the secretive nature of the collection, some of these prices are estimates – but it gives you an idea of how just how high-end this collection is.

McLaren F1 LM

At one point, the Sultan was in possession of 10 McLaren F1s, three of which were the F1 LM.

Just to give you an idea of how exclusive the F1 LM is, there’s one five of them worldwide – and the Sultan owns all but two of them.

A single McLaren F1 LM would easily go for more than $20 million – one sold for $19.8 million back in 2019 at Monterey Car Week.

Gold-plated Rolls-Royce Silver Spur II

You don’t need us to tell that a gold-plated Rolls-Royce is going to cost some seriously big bucks.

In fact, those two phrases alone – ‘gold-plated’ and ‘Rolls-Royce’ – are basically shorthand for uber-expensive.

It’s no wonder then that this was chosen to be the Sultan’s wedding car.

As if all of that wasn’t impressive enough, this Silver Spur II is a Guinness World Record holder as the world’s most gold-plated car.

Valued at $14 million, this car is a total one-off – and we mean that in the literal sense.

Ferrari F90 Custom Cars

Remember when we told you how many Ferraris the Sultan has?

Well, this is arguably the jewel in his Ferrari crown.

As if having a $5 billion car collection wasn’t enough of a flex, the Sultan also owns all six custom F90s.

Since these are one-offs, it’s difficult to have market comparisons, but one of these would easily go for an eight-figure sum.

Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR

Roughly 20 to 26 of these were made, with estimates of individual cars coming out at around $10 million.

Mercedes built these as a road-legal version of a race car.

It was built so the GTI race car could compete in the FIA GT Championships, as rules stipulate that there must be a minimum number of road-going versions.

Bentley Dominator

This 1990s Bentley SUV was commissioned years ago now, and has been branded the ‘wildest’ car he owned.

Since nothing like it has ever been sold, it’s hard to pin down an exact figure on it.

One estimate puts this at $4.6 million, while another suggested $8 million when adjusted for inflation.

The intrigue surrounding these cars will no doubt continue for years to come.
