AI consultant Justin Parnell has shared how he uses AI agents while working, which have made his whole life more efficient.

The San Francisco-based consultant says the tech has become a huge part of the way he works, helping him automate the most repetitive parts of his day.

Through his business, he also builds custom AI agents for clients who want to speed up their own workflows.

And his advice is surprisingly simple, with a playbook that starts with understanding what AI can actually do.

AI consultant shares how he uses AI agents that save him hours

This tech expert and AI Consultant, called Justin Parnell, told Business Insider the first thing people get wrong when it comes to AI is imagining AI agents as some kind of magic digital employee.

Instead, he said it helps to think about them in a much more practical way.

For him, an AI agent is really just a model that takes in information, follows rules, makes decisions step by step, and uses tools to carry out actions.

Once that idea clicks, he said that the next move is to break every job into the smallest possible parts.

That means looking at things like client onboarding, proposals, contracts, invoices, and all the tiny admin steps in between.

If AI can handle even a few of those smaller human tasks, it can start shaving serious time off the whole process.

Make life so much more efficient

Parnell’s next tip is to prioritize tasks that will have the greatest impact with the least effort.

In other words, go after the quick wins first; high-impact, low-effort jobs should come before the more complicated stuff, because that is where people are most likely to feel the benefits fast.

But he was also clear that humans still need to stay involved.

Before an invoice goes out or a proposal gets approved, he says, there should be a check built into the workflow so a person can review what the AI has done – that way, the system stays useful without running off track.

After that, the final step is simply to get started.

And that might be the most interesting part of all, because Parnell’s method is not really about replacing people.

It’s about removing the boring bits, speeding up the admin, and giving people back hours they would rather spend doing something far more useful.
