A British woman was momentarily the richest person in the world, 100,000 times richer than the Tesla CEO, for a glorious but depressingly short time.
For one glorious blink, a simple coffee run in Nottingham, UK, came with a receipt that suggested she could buy basically anything on Earth and still have change left over.
The number was so big it looked completely unbelievable.
Sadly, the ‘fortune‘ was about as real as a unicorn butler, but the story is still incredible.

She was momentarily the richest person in the world
The Nottingham Post reports the 29-year-old business owner stopped at a coffee shop called 200 Degrees and used a Christmas gift card that was supposed to hold just £10, which comes to about $14.
She bought herself a matcha latte, then glanced at her receipt and nearly dropped her drink.
Because it claimed her remaining balance was a jaw-dropping £63 quadrillion (around $80 quadrillion), more than any crypto billionaire’s wealth combined.
That is the kind of money you expect to see attached to a country’s GDP, not sitting on a café gift card.
Naturally, she did what any of us would do.
She laughed, showed her partner, and enjoyed the absurd feeling of being ‘the richest woman in the world on paper’ for a moment.

Staff at the café were just as confused, because no one was planning to hand over the keys to the city with a latte purchase.
Could you imagine the amount of lattes she could buy with the wealth that’s 670 times the world economy?
Turns out the explanation for the new quadrillionaire was simple.
The coffee shop later said it was an administrative error, caused by the gift card number being entered into the wrong place on the till, which produced the ridiculous printed balance.
The richest person on Earth was charged correctly, and the actual gift card value remained normal.

100,000 times richer than the Tesla CEO
The British woman was briefly 100,000 times richer than Tesla’s multi-billionaire owner, which tells you just how cartoonishly huge $80 quadrillion is.
If that balance had been real, her ‘coffee money’ could have funded the ultimate Supercar Blondie dream garage: rare Ferraris, Bugattis, Koenigseggs, and amazing one-off customs.
But seeing as it was a coffee shop gift card, she could only spend her quadrillions on coffees and maybe some delicious sweet treats.
She should definitely frame the receipt from the time she briefly had more money than every person on Earth combined, though.
