People are losing their minds over a viral video of Joe Gebbia, US Chief Design Officer, testing a mind-blowing new gadget.
A clip shared online appears to show the Airbnb cofounder sitting in a San Francisco coffee shop with an unusual-looking metallic wearable in his ears and a matching disc-shaped case on the table in front of him.
The setup has sent social media into overdrive, with viewers scrambling to work out whether they are looking at a secret prototype from one of the biggest names in AI.
From the second the footage landed online, the mystery gadget instantly became one of the internet’s most talked-about tech moments.

The video of Joe Gebbia’s gadget
In the viral clip, the man believed to be Joe Gebbia, an American billionaire and co-founder of Airbnb, is seen enjoying an espresso while wearing a strange piece of tech – metallic earbuds that curve across his ears.
Sitting on the counter beside him is a clamshell-style circular device that appears to be part of the same system.
The post quickly racked up more than 500,000 views online, and it did not take long for people to start speculating about what exactly the futuristic-looking headphone device might be.

Some viewers even wondered whether it could be linked to the much-rumored AI hardware project involving OpenAI and legendary former Apple designer Jony Ive.
The company previously dismissed a viral video earlier this year that claimed to show its upcoming hardware, but the design similarities have still fueled plenty of theories online.
What could this new mind-blowing gadget be?
Others think the mystery device could simply be an unusual pair of open-ear earbuds.
The shape resembles several products already on the market, including Huawei’s FreeClip 2, Soundcore’s AeroClips, and Sony’s LinkBuds Clip, although the circular case seen in the video does not appear to match any of those models.

There has also been debate about whether the clip itself could be AI-generated, but some detection tools have suggested that is unlikely, although those systems are not always perfectly reliable.
For now, nobody knows exactly what Gebbia was testing, but that has not stopped the internet from trying to crack the mystery.

Whether it turns out to be a next-generation AI gadget or just a particularly unusual pair of earbuds, one quick coffee stop has managed to get everyone talking.
