A tech-lover was able to get his hands on a super-rare sealed Apple iPod Touch and get it up and running to see what it was like.
Those of you who are certain age might remember when Apple released the very first iPod Touch in 2007.
At the time, it was seriously cutting-edge technology, and could be used for everything from streaming music and video to gaming and browsing the internet.
The iPod Touch was a hit for Apple, with more than 100 million units sold worldwide, before it was discontinued in 2013, but how does the device hold up today? One man found out.

He got a fifth-generation iPod Touch for cheap online
When it comes to tech, time moves fast, and devices that were once top-of-the-line quickly become relics, like the old BlackBerry phones or the Sony Walkman.
The iPod suffered a similar fate, going from being the must-have gadget to something that you can pick up cheaply online.

YouTube content creator iClassic managed to get his hands on a fifth-generation 64GB iPod Touch for $90, a lot less than the original $399 price tag it came with when it was released in 2012.
Despite its age, the iPod Touch was unTouched and was still in its original packaging, and came with a pair of corded headphones, stickers, a Lightning cable, and an iPod loop – a lot more than you get inside the box these days.
After carefully unboxing it, the YouTuber was impressed by just how small and lightweight it was, as well as pointing out the headphone jack.
After putting it on charge for a few minutes, the iPod Touch powered up.
The iPod was running on iOS 8, and the setup was pretty straightforward.
As you might have expected, the iPod didn’t recognize newer Apple products, like the YouTuber’s iPhone 17, but other apps worked fine, and he was keen to give it a bigger test and share his finding in a follow-up.
“I actually kind of want to try, you know, using this as a daily driver, just as like a media device,” he said.

“I’m going to see if I can get some music onto this, maybe some videos as well. Take it to the gym, take it on a walk.”

Did you know you can turn an old iPod Touch into a dash cam?
While the iPod Touch is considered obsolete tech these days, that’s not to say its useless.
You can still use it as a personal media player, like iClassic planned to, or you can download an app that’ll turn it into a dash cam.
The free-to-use DashCam Recorder app offers 4K resolution, GPS coordinates, speed, date, and time integration, and a Driver Focus Mode that turns off the display.

The app links to iCloud and automatically saves files to your drive.
It works with all camera devices linked to the Apple App Store and runs on iOS, so it can be used on the iPod Touch.
And although the iPod Touch might not have the best camera out there, it’s still good enough for a dashcam and the device also comes with plenty of storage space.
