A couple of car enthusiasts from Tennessee painstakingly rebuilt a wrecked Lamborghini Aventador only for it to start melting during their first test drive.
The Lamborghini Aventador was launched in 2011 and had a decade-long production run with just 11,831 ever made.
When new, the iconic supercar would set you back around $500,000.
So, when the guys behind the goonzquad YouTube channel came across a badly damaged one for cheap they decided to try and fix it up.

The Lamborghini Aventador was given a full rebuild
Restoring a supercar is no mean feat, but the guys from the goonzsquad were up for the challenge.
After snapping up the Lamborgini Aventador they began the lengthy process of returning it to its former glory and, fair play to them, they did a fantastic job.
Not only did they get the Aventador looking factory-fresh, they managed the whole thing on a pretty limited budget , spending $223,024 on the project.
Sure, that may sound like a lot, but when you consider that a Lamborghini Aventador can sell for between $500,000 and $600,000 it’s pretty impressive.
Once the rebuild was done and dusted, the duo hoped to sell it for around $480,000 – turning a huge profit on their budget build.
Things took a bit of a turn for the poor Lambo
However, the path to getting the Lambo back on the road didn’t run quite as smoothly as the pair had hoped.
With the rebuild pretty much done and dusted, the time had come for a test drive where they were hoping to ‘hit 200 miles an hour’.
“Alrighty so we are ready to hit the road,” one of the brothers said as he hopped behind the wheel and held up a ‘just in case’ fire extinguisher.
Things started off fine, and they noted that the car sounded great and that it ran ‘pretty smooth’.
So far, so good, but things didn’t stay that way.
After completing the test drive without any issues they took the Lamborghini Aventador back to their shop and noticed that the car didn’t look quite the same as it did at the start of the day.
“We went so fast that this thing started melting on us,” he said.
“We’re actually just looking around the car when we got back and we noticed that this side skirt right here literally got a little bit, like, wavy or warped right there and the radiator.”
Ouch.
Thankfully, the issue would be a pretty easy one to fix – the piece can be popped off, straightened out, and put back on – this time with some heat shield to prevent it from happening again.
