One woman’s driveway was unearthed and taken away without her knowing
It’s no secret that beautiful driveways are expensive to design, build, and upkeep, but no one expects to have to replace them after an actual driveway theft.
But after her drive was dug up, Paige was left shocked at this exact turn of events.
After buying the home to renovate and sell, she had buyers interested, but was confused after a potential buyer and agent called to ask about the ‘unfinished drive’.

“I had a call on Saturday morning, and she was like, ‘Hey, we’re thinking about putting in an offer. When are you going to finish up the driveway?'”
“And I’m like, well, the driveway had a couple of cracks in it, but we’re not planning on redoing the driveway.
“And she’s like, ‘Well, maybe we’re at the wrong house,'” she told Local 3 News.
Paige had been subject to driveway theft, and she had no idea why.
It turns out that neighbors noticed vehicles, including a dump truck and a king cab with a backhoe, were at the home for over an hour, removing the contents of her drive.

After speaking to Local 3 News and sharing footage caught on a neighbor’s camera in a bid to get to the bottom of the confusing event, what was to follow took everybody by surprise.
The shocking truth behind the theft was discovered
It turns out that Paige’s driveway theft was all part of a huge, elaborate scam that affected others in the process, too.
The trucks were traced back to Donnie McSears, who owns McSears Concrete Finishing, but it doesn’t end there.
It turns out that it was part of a scam during which an alleged local man texted the concrete company asking for the driveway to be removed.
“He said I’m gonna send you 50 percent before you get started, so I’m still waiting on my first check.
“I haven’t gotten anything. He also wanted me to pay a $2,000 furniture bill for him,” Donnie McSears explained to Local 3.
The business owner even explained that they tried to organize a meeting with the scammer named Dean Williams and even checked that the address was correct before completing the task at hand.
In a twist, both Paige and Donnie were able to get in contact after the driveway theft, with Donnie even offering a goodwill gesture of replacing the surface free of charge.
“They have been so good to work with; they’ve owned up to everything.
“You know they’re the ones who actually got scammed with my home as a owner,” Paige said further.
Both parties issued warnings about the scam because something like this could literally happen to anyone.
After all, it’s better to be safe and keep your eyes peeled when events like these happen.
