‘Tesla Bot’ is slightly-terrifying and Elon Musk says it’ll be ready next year

Elon Musk said the slightly-terrifying-looking humanoid Tesla Bot will go into production in 2023.

The project is officially known as ‘Optimus’ even though they also call it the ‘Tesla Bot’, and its promised arrival is a lot faster than we were expecting.

Tesla is even on a hiring spree for people to work on the project.

But we’re not getting too excited just yet for this human-ish bi-pedal machine that can walk 8km/h.

Optimus was first announced in 2021 but Musk seems to be certain it will be ready a lot earlier than expected.

And that’s why, over the last few weeks, the company has listed several jobs related to this project, mainly to help with actuators and ‘motion planning & navigation’.

Optimus/Tesla Bot stands 172cm tall and weighs 56kg.

According to Tesla, the Tesla Bot is designed to “eliminate dangerous, repetitive, boring tasks”.

We like the sound of all this but… we should find a better name because Optimus sounds a bit too easy: how about Roberto?

• Can carry up to 20kg and deadlift 68kg
• Walks at 8km/h
• Stands 172cm tall and weighs 56kg
• A screen on its face will show useful info
• It has eight cameras to navigate and ‘see’ its environment
• Will have AI tech already in use in Tesla vehicles
