Tesla Cybertruck and Ford Raptor R went head-to-head in a drag race and the gap only increased with every inch driven

Somebody put a Tesla Cybertruck up against a Ford Raptor R in a quarter-mile drag race, and the gap was even wider than we thought.
We already know that EVs are generally faster in a drag race, but the gap was still so wide it was almost inexplicable.
But even though the winner was clear, there are a couple of things worth noting.
And the loser did have at least two big redeeming features.
Taking on a Tesla Cybertruck in a drag race
The Cyberbeast – the range-topping variant of the Tesla Cybertruck – is apparently capable of beating most cars in a quarter-mile drag race.
The record-breaking Cyberbeast has so far managed to beat a Porsche 911, a Lamborghini Aventador and even other EVs, such as the GMC Hummer EV.
Like most high-performance EVs, the Cyberbeast can count on an immense amount of torque, and it’s instant torque, readily available immediately.

EVs have fewer moving parts, which means that the torque and power is transferred from the motor to the tires in a split-second when you hit the gas, like flicking a switch.
In the drag race test conducted by the team behind the SterlingsWildWest YouTube channel, the Cybertruck emerged as the clear victor.
Just a few seconds into the race, the gap was so wide that you could fit another Cybertruck between these two.
But there’s a but.
The Raptor R has a couple of redeeming features

Even though the 845-horsepower Cybertruck won, the Ford Raptor R has at least two things it can brag about.
First, the Ford Raptor R uses a 5.2-liter V8, loosely related to the engine that powers the record-breaking Mustang GTD, and it puts out 720 horsepower.
In terms of 0-60mph, the Cybertruck does it in 2.6 seconds while the Raptor R takes 3.7 seconds, which means it’s slower, but it has a V8, and people love V8s.
Second, the Cybertruck may have won the drag race, but when they got to finish line you can tell that the gap was actually beginning to narrow.
That’s because, in general, gas cars are better when torque fades away and raw horsepower kicks in.

There are exceptions, of course.
For example, the fastest car in the world at the moment is indeed electric.
But if we imagined a full race around a track, we’re not sure the Cybertruck would still win.
