This Tesla Cybertruck owner had to find out the hard way that sandy beaches in Utah are nothing to mess with.
Ice and snow can melt, mud can harden if the weather changes, but sand is sand.
When you’re stuck, you’re stuck.
Fortunately for the driver, Utah’s most famous tow truck was there for him.
So is the Cybertruck actually good at off-roading?
The buzz has died down a little, but there are still a ton of videos proving that Cybertruck is a great off-roader, and also videos proving the exact opposite can be true.
A couple of years ago, we watched a Cybertruck fail to tackle a hillclimb that the Rivian R1T dealt with wonderfully.
But, around the same time, we also saw another Cybertruck navigate an incredibly tough off-road course with ease.

The truth is, you could probably find fuel for your fire, whether you want to prove that Cybertruck is a great off-roader or that it isn’t.
The measured, rational answer to the question is probably: yes, but not as good as some Toyotas.
Then again, nothing is.
Here’s what happened to this truck in Utah
Sand Hollow State Park in Hurricane, Utah, is famous for a lot of things.
Most of these things are great.
The view, the water, the incredible color of the sand that almost looks like it’s made of caramel.
But it’s also a place where you can easily get stuck.
That’s what happened to this (ironically) sand-wrapped Cybertruck that tow truck company owner and YouTuber Matt’s Off Road Recovery had to save from the dunes.

No amount of torque would save you from a situation like this, mostly, we suspect, because the Tesla Cybertruck is torquey, but also very, very heavy.
That’s why Matt’s Cherokee had to help.
Matt from Matt’s Off-Road Recovery usually drives a 1986 Jeep Cherokee XJ nicknamed ‘The Banana’.
Clearly, The Banana didn’t have a problem.
