The Tesla Diner in Los Angeles could be gearing up to make some big changes as its chef is set to leave in January.

The first-ever Tesla Diner opened to much fanfare back in July.

As well as popcorn serving Optimus robots, the diner had a launched with a fairly extensive menu with chef Eric Greenspan at the helm.

However, things could be set to change at the diner, with Greenspan recently announcing he’ll be departing in a couple of months.

There could be big changes coming to the Tesla Diner in Los Angeles

The Tesla Diner features a menu packed with typical American offerings, such as burgers, hot dogs, and fried chicken with waffles – it even has a uniquely Tesla way of serving up its food

However, shortly after it opened its doors for the first time, the menu was trimmed back

Speaking at the time Greenspan said the menu at the diner would be ‘forever evolving’ and said ‘unprecedented demand’ led to the decision to make the menu smaller.

Now, it seems there could be more changes afoot, with Greenspan telling the Los Angeles Times he was leaving to pursue another project.

“I am leaving the Tesla Diner project to focus on the opening of Mish, my long-desired Jewish deli,” he told the publication.

“Projects like Mish and the Tesla Diner require a sharpness of focus and attention, and my focus and attention is now squarely on Mish.”

Currently, folks wanting to eat at the diner either order from inside their Tesla vehicle or order at the counter.

However, with Greenspan on his way out, staff at the diner told the Los Angeles Times that they had been informed it would be converting to a full-service restaurant, with serving staff and table service, by January.

It’d signal a big change for the diner, which until now has mostly operated on a semi-self-service model.

More Tesla Diners could be on the way

For now, anyone wanting to try a Giga Burger or a Chill Mode Grilled Cheese will have to head to the Tesla Diner in Los Angeles, but that could be set to change.

Tesla boss Elon Musk announced a couple of weeks back that he’s already considering a couple of locations to open up new diners.

“The futuristic Tesla Diner is going well. Probably makes sense to open one near our Giga Texas HQ in Austin and engineering HQ in Palo Alto,” Musk wrote in a post on X.
