It was a sight to behold when these 150 Tesla owners gathered together in a Maryland parking lot to put on a stunning light show.

Car meet-ups are a regular occurrence in the automotive world.

But a bit of performance art isn’t something you’d usually expect at these events.

That’s what made this gathering in Ocean City all the more special.

Surprising car meet-ups

You might picture a bunch of car enthusiasts meeting up, admiring each other’s cars and then driving home.

But as we’ve seen time and time again, these events can be full of surprises.

One man took that to the nth degree when he rocked up at a car meet with a drivable sofa – yes, seriously.

But you needn’t drive a couch on wheels to get a big reaction, as this Ferrari 250 demonstrated in a rather humorous way.

However, surprises can come in lots of shapes and sizes.

Nothing exemplifies this better than what recently happened in a Maryland parking lot.

These 150 Tesla owners put on a light show to remember

More than 150 Tesla owners banded together to put on a light show that wouldn’t have looked too out of place at a Disneyworld parade.

It really was a spectacular display.

This synchronized light show closed out the first annual E-Volution Expo held in Ocean City at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center.

The event, which ran between September 19 and 20, offered out discount codes for participating vehicles, according to a forum post on Tesla Owners Club Of Maryland.

Syncing their lights to music, the cars gathered in the shape of a lightbulb to ‘perform’.

Hundreds of spectators watched on, including the Mayor of Ocean City, Rick Meehan.

In a post on Facebook, the Mayor wrote: “The E-Volution Expo is Ocean City’s premier technology and innovation event, showcasing electric vehicles, AI, robotics, smart homes, and sustainability.”

There’s a lot of epic light shows out there

When it comes to light shows, the E-Volution Expo has some stiff competition.

Just take a look at the breath-taking display that China put on with 16,000 AI-powered drones.

Admittedly, that is a high bar to set, with it being a world record and all.

The below video from Simon Pollock shows the light show in all its glory.
