Teen who purchased totaled Tesla for $13,000 gives full cost breakdown on how much it cost to restore

A young man in the US bought a damaged Tesla Model 3 and brought it back to life.

The car wasn’t super cheap to buy, and fixing it also cost money.

But, when all is said and done, it was still a bit of a bargain.

What’s more, he says he wants to do it again.

Fixing this Tesla Model 3 wasn’t cheap

As he explained in a video on the Winston’s Garage YouTube channel, the guy – who’s only 18 by the way – was able to buy the car for $13,000.

It does sound like a bargain, but the car was in dire condition, and it needed a lot of work.

He ended up spending an additional $12,000 on parts and other things.

Still, $25,000 for a 2018 Model 3 Dual Motor Long Range isn’t bad.

He also says he wants to do it again, as in he wants to buy another totaled Tesla and bring it back to life.

When cheap ‘projects’ aren’t so cheap

YouTubers regularly buy stuff to fix and restore.

They do it for fun, and also because these videos generally do well.

They’re engaging, and the vehicles end up paying for themselves because of that.

However, they almost always cost more than the initial estimate.

The story behind Elvis Presley’s jet is a great example.

A YouTuber bought it for a relatively inexpensive sum, but he quickly realized the jet would never fly again.

So he decided to turn it into an RV, and that still cost him a lot of money.

Then there’s the man who bought Marcus Rashford’s totaled Rolls-Royce.

When we look at what he paid versus what he got, we’d still call it a bargain.

But, it’s still a Rolls-Royce, and it still wasn’t cheap to fix, especially after Mansory got involved.

Probably worth it, though.
