A Tesla Model Y owner said his car’s Bioweapon Defense Mode helped save his life while evacuating from the LA wildfire.

As of writing this article, the Palisades Fire in Los Angeles has burned through 23,713 acres.

Although Tesla had been including the Bioweapon Defense Mode in its cars for a while, very few people previously needed to use it.

Now, one man credits it with saving his life.

The LA wildfire has forced thousands of residents to flee their homes.

During his evacuation last week, Tesla Model Y owner Josef (@JosefInvesting) used his car’s “Bioweapon Defense Mode”.

“When biodefense mode actually comes in handy for the Palisades Fire in LA. This Tesla is literally saving my life. Never buying another brand ever again,” he shared on X.

Many Tesla models come with an advanced air filtration system that keeps cabin air clean through a HEPA filter system that blocks 99.97% of particles such as smoke and bacteria.

Last year, many Tesla owners also used the Bioweapon Defense Mode as the Canadian wildfire affected New York’s air quality.

Under extreme conditions, the feature also creates a positive pressure in the cabin to prevent pollutants from leaking in.

According to Josef, he also used the FSD’s “Hurry” mode on his Tesla Model Y to get away from the LA wildfire.

Replying to Josef’s post, Tesla’s official account responded with “Glad to hear – please stay safe.”

First introduced in the Tesla Model X, the Bioweapon Defense Mode comes standard in the Model S and Model Y.

This safety feature ensures the electric vehicles have clean air in the cabin during emergencies like these.

However, Tesla isn’t the only automaker to include air-purifying HEPA filters, as Mercedes-Benz also has the “Air Balance” filtration system.
