This Texas trucker has driven 4,000,000 miles – the equivalent of circling Earth over 160 times.

It’s no secret that truckers rack up a lot of miles while on the job.

But Homero Flores may be in a league of his own, as he’s recently clocked in his four millionth mile.

It was his 33rd year in the job as a HEB driver, and all of his miles over the decades had been achieved without incident.

The Texas trucker with 4,000,000 miles to his name

Over the years, we’ve seen a lot of people lay claim to some impressive distance records.

After all, if you’re going to have a car, you may as well get a lot of mileage out of it, right?

There was a Greek taxi driver who drove three million miles over the course of 23 years, the same number that Irv Gordon put on his Volvo P1800S.

Another man hit 1,000,000 miles in his 2003 Honda Accord V-6, working as a medical courier.

Homero Flores is just the latest to join the club of drivers with extraordinarily high odometers.

Flores has worked for Texas company HEB since 1986, and started attending truck driving school three years later.

By 1992, he was trucking full-time.

He cracked the million mile mark in December 2000.

Two million would come in 2008, and three would follow in 2016.

Basically he’s been adding a million every eight years.

That works out at 357 miles a day – no small feat.

Circling the Earth more than 160 times

To put that into perspective, four million miles is the equivalent of driving around the Earth over 160 times.

That’s a pretty staggering way of looking at it.

And on top, he did all of this without a single incident over the years.

“You have to admire and respect Homer’s tremendous accomplishment.

“It almost seems impossible when you think about it. Day in and day out, he is hauling up to 80,000 pounds with a 53- or 57-foot trailer alongside other motorists.

“To do it safely, traveling four million consecutive safe miles, without a single scrape or broken mirror, is a testament to his professionalism,” said Todd Wright, the senior vice president of Transportation at HEB.

But, believe it or not, Flores isn’t even the first HEB driver to have reached this milestone.

Andres Corona and Danny Guerrero Jr. hit 4,000,000 miles in 2014 and 2021, respectively.

With just three members, that’s still a pretty exclusive club, whichever way you look at it.
