The Price is Right contestant got the easiest free car in the history of the show after model made 'mortifying' error

Winning a brand-new car on The Price is Right usually requires a bit of skill, luck, and some educated guessing, but thanks to a ‘mortifying’ error, a woman ended up with the easiest free car anyone has ever got.

One contestant ended up with what might be the easiest car prize in the history of the long-running game show.

All of the guesswork was taken out, thanks to a model called Manuela Arbeláez.

The unforgettable blunder became one of the most talked-about moments ever seen on the show.

How The Price is Right contestant got the easiest free car in the history of the show

The moment happened during a car pricing game involving a contestant called Andrea, who was allowed to guess the price of a brand-new Hyundai Sonata SE.

The contestant was given three chances to identify the correct price of the sedan from a selection of price tags.

After making her first guess, which was $19,849, which turned out to be incorrect, model Manuela Arbeláez stepped in to reveal the result.

Unfortunately, she accidentally revealed the next tag too.

That second tag happened to contain the correct price of the car, instantly giving away the answer before the contestant had a chance to make another guess.

The crowd erupted as everyone realized what had happened, and the model genuinely looked mortified.

Host Drew Carey quickly embraced the chaos, joking that Arbeláez had just given away a car, what should have been a tense game show instantly turned into a guaranteed win.

The model described the mistake as a ‘mortifying’ error

Speaking afterwards to Inside Edition, Arbeláez admitted she was horrified by what she had done.

She said she was ‘mortified’ and immediately worried that she had made a very expensive mistake.

The model explained that after hearing the buzzer for the contestant’s incorrect guess, she went into autopilot.

Normally, when a player loses, the remaining tags are revealed to show the correct answer, forgetting that the game wasn’t already over, she instinctively flipped the winning price tag.

Despite the mistake, Arbeláez said the show’s producers and Drew Carey were incredibly supportive.

Rather than editing the error out, the team decided to leave the moment exactly as it happened and the model had worked on the show for six years without making a mistake like it.

In the end, the accidental giveaway became television gold, creating one of the most memorable moments in The Price is Right history and giving one lucky contestant the easiest route imaginable to driving home in a brand-new free car.
