This rare hardtop 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Motion Performance 427 has a wild past, once taking a bullet from a police car during a street race.
The original owner of the vintage vehicle used the Camaro for racing and even set a ¼ mile record back in 1969.
The car was then sold to a man who used it for street racing and managed to ‘win a lot of money’ with the Camaro.
The beautiful classic car has been loving restored and looks as fresh today as it did when it was new.

The Chevrolet Camaro Motion Performance has a wild past
Every now and then, someone stumbles across a car that has its own exciting history – such as this barn find Ford Torino that was a former street racer; or this purple and pink minivan that appeared on an episode of MTV’s Pimp My Ride back in the day.
And the folks from Volo Auto Museum managed to get their hands on this stunning Camaro that not only set a record, but also looks every inch the daring street racer it once was.
Originally owned by a man named Barry Maskery, who worked for General Motors, the Camaro was bought with a 396 engine that could produce 375 horsepower.
However, this wasn’t quite enough for Maskery who decided to have it boosted to a 427 long block that created 425hp.
In May 1969, Maskery set a new ¼ mile track record with the Camaro, racing around in 10.45 – an impressive speed even by today’s standards.
After selling the car on it ended up in the hands of a street racer, who was able to win a lot of money thanks to the super-quick Camaro.
It was once shot at by the police
According to a listing for the car, the previous owner recalled one particular heart-stopping incident that involved the police.
The former owner said he and the Camaro were racing – and beating – a 1970 Hemi Cuda and the police set up a blockade at the end of the street.
The Cuda stopped, but he decided to drive right past the blockade in the Camaro and the cops tried shooting his tires and bullet went through the 1/4 panel.
Since then the car has had a complete nuts and bolts restoration and is in near-mint condition.
It also comes with a serious amount of documentation – four ring binders full.
The ‘extremely rare piece of history’ has been listed with an asking price of $499,998.
