Tim Allen has opened up his private garage for the world to see – and it’s an incredible display of super rare vintage cars and American muscle.

As part of a new series for the Petersen Automotive Museum, the Home Improvement star took people inside his epic garage.

The actor is a huge car enthusiast, but this still exceeded everyone’s expectations.

Just how much do we love Allen’s car collection? To infinity and beyond, of course.

Tim Allen has been a certified petrolhead for a while now

When most people think of Tim Allen, they’ll likely think of his movie roles, whether it’s as Buzz Lightyear in the Toy Story series or starring in the Santa Clause franchise.

But he has another dimension to his life, and that’s being a huge car nerd.

Just how well does he know his cars?

Well, his buddy Jay Leno blindfolded him and had him identify cars just by sitting inside them.

Without giving too much away, he made the whole game look like a walk in the park.

It’s no surprise then that such a knowledgeable car guy would have an impressive car collection to boot.

Inside the incredible garage of Tim Allen

Petersen Automotive Museum launched a new series called ‘Open Garage’, in which some of the ‘world’s most passionate car collectors’ open up their collections ofr the world to see.

Allen got to be at the center of the show’s first episode, and what a way to kick off the show.

He started off the episode with a Ford Mustang GTD.

“I call it the driving felony because there’s no way to drive this without being illegal. Of course, I don’t,” he explained.

“I drive it totally with the law in mind except entrance ramps. I do give it a show on the entrance ramp.”

Then there’s his Ford RS200 rally car, which he said Leno had driven a few times.

“You won’t even know this car until it gets off the road. Then it really becomes itself,” Allen explained.

“It takes a lot of revs to keep it going and it’s really difficult to shift. Once it gets in its mode, it’s cool, but streets are not its thing.”

This collection really is out of this world

Some Porsches had made their way into Allen’s collection, including a 356 and an original 911S.

Of the latter car, he admitted it was his favorite car as a kid.

On the former, he conceded that he ‘looked particularly stupid in it’.

“Once I get in it, it’s just a really crowded Volkswagen,” he said.

His wife is a fan though.

Other cars in the collection included a 1965 Jaguar XKE, and a 1967 Ferrari 330 GTC.

There was even a car in here that he used to drive around the studio lot during his days on Home Improvement back in the 1990s.

Described as ‘the 48’, this mini car was built by Disney.

“I was making a lot of money. So they didn’t know how to say no to me,” Allen joked.

“Just try to visualize a human being in this. There’s no way you don’t look like a clown car.

“I really do like driving on the lot at Disney, especially when you’re not supposed to.”

On the cooler side of the equation was his Dodge performance models, including the Demon (“My favorite car of all”), a 1970 Pontiac Ram Air IV 400, a 429 Ram Air Cobra Jet, and a 1966 Hertz GT350.

You get the idea – this guy knows his cars.

He isn’t the only celebrity with an enviable collection

Whether it’s Katy Perry, Brad Pitt, or Lady Gaga, actors and musicians have some of the most iconic car collections in the world.

But perhaps nobody comes close to Jay Leno.

There’s a reason why his car collection is the most Googled among celebrities, beating out the likes of Bill Gates and Cristiano Ronaldo.
