In the state of Maine, US, one town has made it simply against the law to park outside Dunkin’ Donuts.
The law comes as some other US states have implemented some pretty unusual laws related to cleaning cars and even selling vehicles on certain days.
But if you have a sudden craving for a sweet treat and a coffee from the chain, then you’ll have to find parking more than 25 feet away.
Strangely, though, this isn’t the oddest road law in action around the globe.

Don’t even try to park outside Dunkin’ Donuts in one town in Maine
Now, the US is known to be strict when it comes to enforcing laws; however, some rules are unexpected.
We all know that keeping safe is the priority when it comes to hitting the road, but this rule will come as a surprise.

In the South Berwick area of Maine, it is simply illegal for drivers to park outside the Dunkin’ Donuts.
On Main Street West, section 130-150 of legislation explains that parking in front of the sweet treat store to ‘a point of 25 feet south’ is not prohibited.
“No person shall park a vehicle at any time upon any of the streets or parts of streets described, except when necessary or in a case of an accident or emergency,” it states, before listing locations, including the donut store.
So, to avoid landing yourself in hot water, or coffee, it’s best to abide by the rules, or your wallet may be hurt.

Surprisingly, though, this isn’t the strangest law that we’ve come across.
These odd car laws aren’t just in place in the US either
Forget confusing road laws just being rolled out across the US; other parts of the world also have them in place, too, and they may come as a shock.
For example, in Norway, it is compulsory to drive with your headlights on at all times, not just throughout the night.
Plus, it’s also illegal to run out of gas on the German Autobahn, which we guess makes sense as the road is famous for not having a set speed limit.
Now, we get it, the Maine law is meant to keep the roads running smoothly and safely, making parking outside Dunkin’ Donuts simply out of the question.
So next time that donut craving strikes, don’t get caught out. Park a little way down the street. Your bank account will thank you.
