Toyota has just confirmed that Gazoo Racing is set to become a standalone brand.
The Japanese marque first pointed towards the news with the reveal of the GR GT in December of 2025.
Now, Toyota has confirmed that it is dropping its own name from some of its racing efforts.
This means that Gazoo Racing will become a performance brand in its own right.

Gazoo Racing goes its own way
Toyota has officially made a very interesting decision.
The Japanese brand has confirmed that its Gazoo Racing naming is set to change.
From March, Gazoo Racing will officially become a standalone performance brand.
What is interesting is that this announcement was hinted at back in December.
When the GR GT was revealed, it did not come with any Toyota badging.
Interestingly, it will be sold through Lexus dealerships.

The move that confirmed GR as a separate performance brand entirely.
But what does the move mean for Toyota’s motorsport ambitions as a whole?
Well, the move splits the brand’s motorsport division into two separate entities.
Gazoo Racing is set to focus exclusively on production-based championships.
This includes Toyota’s incredibly successful World Rally Championship (WRC) effort, as well as developing road cars.
These road cars include the GR Yaris, GR Corolla, and various other upcoming GT models.
Toyota Motorsports in Europe gets a rebrand
But what about the other half of the division?
It turns out that Toyota’s European operation, based in Germany, is also undergoing a change.
This part of the division is being renamed to Toyota Racing GmbH.
This European branch focuses on cutting-edge, prototype racing, and most famously, this means the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).
Speaking of the WEC, the marque has revealed just the third major change to its hypercar program.
And it will be hoping to go all the way in 2026.

Branded the TR010, this V6-powered hybrid hypercar marks the latest iteration of the GR010.
Despite being just the third major change, it is clear that these alterations are major.
We can’t be certain about specific changes that have been made.
But one thing we do know is that there is a heavily revised front end.
That doesn’t even factor in the extensive aerodynamics or completely new headlights.
The separation of Gazoo Racing is expected to be fully implemented by January 2027.
