Toyota just unveiled a secret garage in Texas where dealers train for the upcoming GR GT supercar.
The garage is a stone’s throw from the company’s North American HQ, and the reason why they built it is simple.
For the first time in about 16 years, the Japanese automaker is gearing up to sell something that definitely isn’t an ordinary car.
There’s just one thing we need to ask now.
This isn’t Toyota’s first ‘secret’ HQ
Toyota already runs another HQ – so to speak – in the US that was built in secret.
Not long ago, the manufacturer unveiled a massive complex in Arizona that the company is using to develop and test hydrogen cars.
The HQ isn’t a secret now, obviously, but no one knew much about it until they actually opened it.
Just like the Texas one, the facility in Arizona is entirely devoted to a specific product.

Actually, more accurately, the facility in Arizona is dedicated to hydrogen vehicles – of which there are many – while the Texas one is dedicated to Toyota supercars.
And there’s only one.
For now.
Toyota is essentially replacing the Lexus LFA with this one
In 2010, the Japanese manufacturer unveiled the LFA.
Built by Lexus, which was and still is part of Toyota, the LFA shocked the car world because it was a supercar and because it was expensive.

At first, everyone was like, ‘meh,’ but people get it now.
And they’re putting their money where their mouth is: a mint LFA goes for twice or three times the original ticket price.
The GR GT is the same car, spiritually.
It’s a supercar built by a brand that generally doesn’t do supercars.
It’s not electric, and it makes 641hp.
At the time of writing, over 100 dealers signed up to sell GR cars.
But these aren’t normal cars, so normal training doesn’t cut it.
The new GR Experience Center – a 36,000-square-foot space – opened around 20 miles from Plano, Texas, which is where the main HQ is located.

The idea is pretty straightforward; this’ll be a way to give dealers proper training ahead of the launch, scheduled for 2028.
And we get it: just by looking at it, it’s clear that this is no ordinary car.
Maybe it won’t be the only one, either.
This HQ, though, looks like it’s ready to accommodate more than one supercar model. Watch this space.
