'Forgotten' Las Vegas supercar that had even more power than a Bugatti could make a return as an EV

Trion Supercars, an obscure supercar brand from Las Vegas, is planning a comeback with an EV that would have enough horsepower to rival Bugatti and Koenigsegg.

Old Trion supercars were powered by V8s, but the new one will be electric.

Most people probably don’t even remember Trion.

And there’s a simple reason why.

Trion Supercars was founded in 2012 in Las Vegas.

The idea was to create an all-American supercar that could compete with equivalent high-performance vehicles from Europe and Japan.

Trion unveiled plans for two supercars, the Nemesis GT and the Nemesis RR.

Both would be powered by 9-liter twin-turbocharged V8s, both paired to an eight-speed manual, and both would be all-wheel drive cars.

The difference was that the Nemesis GT could generate 1,400HP, while the Nemesis RR was capable of producing 2,000HP.

This would make the Nemesis faster and more powerful than American iconic supercars such as the Saleen S7, the Dodge Viper, or even the Falcon F7.

The reason why most people may have never heard of Trion is that the company built several working prototypes, but a production car never materialized.

However, the supercar brand still exists and is now planning a comeback with an electric hypercar.

Trion claims the new fully-electric version of the Nemesis will be able to reach 60MPH from standstill in 2.8 seconds, which means it would also compete with the likes of the Rimac Nevera and the Aspark Owl.

Several automakers, including Saleen, by the way, are planning to replace their internal combustion supercars with electric equivalents.

The list is long, and it includes Lexus with the LFA and Nissan with the GT-R.

By contrast, others aren’t considering that option for now.

Koenigsegg and Bugatti are still absolutely convinced internal combustion is the present and also the future.

As for Trion, there’s no ETA yet, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed.
