Uber and Turo teamed up and celebrated by building a swimming pool in a Rivian truck

Uber and Turo celebrated their new partnership by literally turning the truck bed of a Rivian R1T into a swimming pool, which they called the ‘Pool Truck’.

Inevitably, the pool is quite small.

Probably more of a jacuzzi than a pool.

There’s some good news, though.

Why Uber and Turo created the Pool Truck

Uber and Turo, a car rental broker, celebrated their new partnership by turning the truck bed of a Rivian R1T into a swimming pool.

Like most EV trucks, the Rivian R1T features a totally sealed truck bed, which means you can fill it up with water and it won’t leak.

Size is an issue, though.

The truck bed in a Rivian is certainly good enough to haul stuff around, but perhaps a bit too small to call it a swimming pool.

As for the pool itself, there’s both good news and bad news.

The good news is that it’s free, and that participants even get free gadgets as well as a $300 discount on future Turo rides as long as they rent them via the Uber app.

The bad news is that this a pop-up pool, which means you can only enjoy it in Miami, only on August 30-31, 2025.

More than a rental car company

Turo is a rental car platform that sort of works like a ride-hailing app.

With most rental car companies, all you can do is hire cars that the company owns, specifically just so they can rent them out.

With Turo, you can rent cars that other people have listed for rent, or you can list your own car.

That’s how James May found the ‘ridiculously American car’ he tested, as well as the Cybertruck he drove, back when it was still ‘hot’ and it was basically impossible to find one.

And that’s why it makes sense to rent a car via the Uber app.

As for the Pool Truck, sure, why not, that also makes sense.
