This 1979 Ford F-150 Dearborn truck is so rare you’ve probably never even heard of it before.

Ford introduced its wildly popular F-150 truck back in 1975 and produced hundreds of thousands by the time 1979 rolled around.

But this 1979 Dearborn example found by Aaron from the Dentside Depot YouTube channel, is a very rare find.

In fact, it’s so rare that many car enthusiasts have never even heard of it.

‘I guarantee you have never seen a truck like this before’

Until recently, the Ford F-150 was the best-selling vehicle in the US – but that doesn’t mean there isn’t the odd rare example out there.

Take this 1979 Ford F-150 Dearborn that was unearthed by Aaron on the Dentside Depot YouTube late last year.

The one-owner Ford F-150 Dearborn Editon was rescued by Aaron from an old junkyard where it had spent ‘God knows how many years’, according to the YouTuber.

Due to spending so much time outside, the truck needed some TLC to get it back to its former glory, but because it was such a rare example – with all the paperwork to prove it – it was enough to pique Aaron’s interest.

The truck itself was a 4X4 short bed, but it was that Dearborn package that made it a real rarity.

“I guarantee you have never seen a truck like this before,” Aaron said in the video.

The Ford truck’s modification didn’t end there

Aaron took the truck home where he gave a full explainer about the Dearborn package.

According to the car enthusiast, Ford would send off its stock standard Ford F-150 to a company named Dearborn, which would modify and tune the truck and then send it to Ford dealerships to be sold.

The Dearborn modifications included a large front brush guard that covered the grille and headlamps; beefed-up fog lights; a new set of 15×10 Turbine wheels with BF Goodrich Radial tyres; side steps running the length of the Ford; and a new rollbar.

The F-150 Dearborn also got a new paint job, with the word Dearborn emblazoned on the side and a stripe design that covered the entire back of the truck.

Unlike the factory F-150 in 1979, the Dearborn truck was fitted with bucket seats, fold-out armrests, a thick shag carpet and an 8-track player.

“This ultra rare Dearborn Edition is probably the only one left in the world – at least the only one left in the world that’s still in original condition,” Aaron said in the clip.

An absolutely incredible find – here’s hoping it gets the full restoration it deserves.
