The new Audi RS5 is a 639hp performance hybrid that uses digital OLED tech to communicate with the world.
This marks a massive technical shift for the brand alongside a 25.9kWh battery pack under the floor.
The new powertrain combines the familiar twin turbo V6 with a powerful electric motor to deliver a 3.6-second sprint to 100km/h.
Audi has packed this car with so much new hardware that the driving experience feels completely different from any of its predecessors.
Driving dynamics and the Audi RS5
Engineers worked hard to manage the 2,355kg curb weight that comes with this performance hybrid setup.
A new torque system sits on the rear axle and can shuffle up to 2,000Nm of torque between the wheels in milliseconds.
This system effectively rotates the car into bends and helps the chassis feel more agile than its heavy specifications suggest.

The second-generation digital OLED rear lights are another functional highlight.
They work by displaying specific warning symbols to motorists following behind.
These graphics appear during accidents or breakdowns to help prevent secondary collisions on the road.
The system uses a dedicated actuator and overdrive gears to manage power delivery even when the driver is off the throttle.

This level of control ensures the Audi RS5 stays balanced through tight corners without the nose-heavy feel often found in large hybrids.
What’s more, the car remained flat and composed even when pushed through the more demanding sections of a test route.
Drivers can also engage an RS Torque Rear mode that allows for controlled oversteer on a track.
This setup provides the mechanical grip of a traditional Quattro system with the playfulness of a rear-drive car.
Technology on the inside
The interior of the Audi RS5 features a massive triple-screen layout that covers almost the entire width of the dashboard.
Drivers get a 14.5-inch central display while the passenger has their own 10.9-inch screen for entertainment and navigation.
Put simply, this Audi RS5 feels like a rolling laboratory for the next generation of Audi Sport technology and software.

The digital OLED lighting even has a checkered flag signature that serves as a visual nod to the racing heritage of the RS badge.
Every part of the car is designed to handle the massive 639hp output while keeping the driver informed about energy flow.
The Audi RS5 proves that the future of fast German sedans relies on clever software as much as it does on mechanical grip.

Having the ability to drive over 80km on battery power alone makes it surprisingly sensible for a car with this much speed.
You still get the aggressive styling and the wide stance that people expect from an Audi RS5 performance hybrid.
It manages to balance the high-tech features with a driving experience that still feels mechanical and engaging.

We will likely see more of this digital OLED technology and hybrid power across the rest of the lineup as Audi updates its fleet.
This car is a strong indication that the next era of performance will be defined by how well a vehicle can think and act on its own.
