US billionaire worth $8,000,000,000 who once owned parking company has a frugal driving habit you'd expect from someone 100,000 times less rich

A hedge fund billionaire is apparently still counting every dollar when it comes to his car.

Even though he’s worth between $8 billion and $9 billion, he takes the time to see if he can save some cash.

Thanks to some words of wisdom from his dad, he still considers small expenses many people wouldn’t think twice about.

And one particular driving habit is honestly surprising.

This billionaire has a strict habit when it comes to parking

Billionaire Bill Ackman, the man behind Pershing Square Capital Management, said his dad taught him to never waste money.

“If I left my light on in my room, he’d get really upset,” he told Fortune

“Now I go around the house turning off every light.”

That mindset stuck, and it evidently influences the way he drives.

“If I don’t like the price of the garage, I’ll go to a different one,” he said.

This is especially ironic when we remember that Ackman played a key role in Impark, one of North America’s biggest parking operators, which he then sold for millions.

Ackman is not the only billionaire with frugal habits

Bill Ackman joins the surprisingly lost list of billionaires with peculiar habits designed to somehow save money.

Mark Zuckerberg has famously owned several cheap cars, including a Honda Fit and a couple of Acuras.

He recently ‘upgraded’ to a Cadillac, but even that’s quite inexpensive for a man worth hundreds of billions.

Although we suspect Zuckerberg employs an army of personal staff and so he probably doesn’t really drive his cars very often.

Warren Buffett has taken this to the max by apparently often eating cheap meals, and also by driving a dented Cadillac that’s over a decade old.

Even Bernard Arnault, who briefly became the world’s richest man a few years ago, apparently drives a Peugeot.
